Make a Flash Menu Bar like the one below.
Refer back to the
Animated Hyperlink Button assignment.
Fireworks
- Select the rectangle tool. Draw a rectangle. Add the Inner Bevel effect.
- Type "Personal Page" on your rectangle. Drop shadow on the
text.
- Save the button with the name button1. This button will be UP look
of your first button
- Now change the text to "Projects". Save with the name button2.
This will be the UP look of the second button.
- Now change the text to "Favorites". Save with the name button3.
This will be the UP look of the third button.
- Now open button1 again. We'll modify it to create the DOWN look. Change
some colors. Save with the name button1a.
- Repeat for the other two buttons.
- You should have 6 button graphics altogether. 3 UPs and 3 DOWNs.
Flash
- File>Import to Library all of the graphics you just made. When
prompted, check the box "Import as a single flattened bitmap".
- F11 to open your library
- Drag all the UP graphics onto the stage.
- Adjust the document size to "just fit" your three graphics.
Modify>Document.

- Convert each graphic to symbol. Type=button.
- Double click the first symbol. Insert a keyframe (F6) in the "OVER"
frame.
- Select the OVER frame. Delete the original graphic (button1). Drag
the DOWN graphic (button1a) in its place.
- Return to Scene1
- Repeat the previous three steps for the other two buttons.
- Select button1, Open the Actions panel. Browser/Network>getURL
in the URL box, type personal.htm (or however you have
it typed).
- Repeat the above step for the other two buttons.
Optional: Add sound to your buttons.
- Double click a button.
- Select the OVER keyframe.
- Open the sound library. Window>Common Libraries>Sounds
- With the OVER keyframe still selected, drag a sound onto the stage.
- Repeat this process with the other two buttons.
