Flash - Photo Crossfade

Before you start go to the internet and select 2 pictures to use today.

  • They should be related thematically (both animals, cars, clothes...somehow related)
  • This project will look nicer is the pictures are the same shape.
  • Save the pictures on your H drive.
Open Flash
  1. Change the background color to a color that matches the background of your pictures. These planet pictures both have a black background, so I changed background to black. Modify, Document.
  2. Save this new Flash Document as Photo Crossfade.

3. Click File, Import and choose your first saved picture. It will appear on the stage in fame 1.

4. Size your picture so that it takes up most of the stage.

5. Convert this picture into a symbol.....right click, Convert to Symbol. Behavior=Graphic
6. Add keyframes in frames 5, 30, 35 and 60 in layer 1

7. Select Layer 1, frame 30 and look at the Properties window - Find Color:None and change to Color:Alpha "0"

  • If you don't see Color in the Properties......click your picture on the stage with your arrow tool (black arrow).
  • If you still don't see Color in the Properties window....you probably forgot to Convert to Symbol in frame 1. Start over....File, New.

8. Select Layer 1, frame 35 and look at the Properties window - Find Color:None and change to Color:Alpha "0"
9. Make a motion tween between frames 5 and 30 and between 35 and 60.

At this point, you are halfway done.
(10) I suggest that you hide and lock layer 1
(11) Insert a layer.
(12) Insert a keyframe in frame 5
(13) Import your 2nd picture into Layer 2, frame 5. Resize this picture so that it is similar shape to the first picture.
(14) Convert to Symbol (F8)
(15) Change the Alpha for this symbol in frame 5 to 0
(16) Add keyframes in frames 30, 35 and 60
(17) In frame 30, select the picture and change its Alpha to 100
(18) Do the same in frame 35
(19) In frame 60 the alpha should still be 0
(20) Motion tween between 5 and 30 and between 35 and 60
