Note: The version of the program we use in class is called ACID XPress. It is a free download (click here) from Sony Media Software. It is a limited version - (a) you are limited to 10 tracks and (b) you are limited to 10 renders.

Step #0: Start Acid Music. Start>Run>Acid50

Step #1:  Find the lessons drive (L:) drive in the Explorer window---it should be listed under My Computer.  Go to the MrMartin folder.  Select Loops1 subfolder.

Step #2:  Find a track you like.  Start with a drum or bass track.  When you click on a track once, it will start to play so you can preview it.

Step #3:  Once you find a track you like, drag it to the track window.

Step #4:  Paint brush tool: Select the track you want use.  Left-click  to paint on, right click to erase.

#5:  Paint on your other track.  You can have up to 10 tracks.

#6:  Press play to test your new song.

#7  Save your song.

#8 Send the file you saved to me for credit.

#8: File>Render As, Save as type=WMA, Template=48kbps.

This step creates the actual music file which can be opened in other programs like Flash, MovieStudio or PowerPoint. This file could also be burned to CD. The file you saved in step #7 can ONLY be used in Acid Xpress.
